Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is a premier Indian state-owned aerospace and defence company. It was founded on 23rd December 1940 as Hindustan Aircraft Limited by Seth Walchand Hirachand in collaboration with the Mysore royal family. In March 1941, the Government of India became one of the stakeholders of the company and took over the management in the year 1942. The company was renamed Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in the year 1964, post amalgamation with Aeronautics India Limited.
